KÖPENICKERSTR. / BERLIN

The briefing: The extension and reconstruction of a Berlin old building apartment in Kreuzberg with approx. 93 sqm, as well as the entire interior decoration. The apartment was to be rented furnished. The apartment still had coal stoves and was very neglected. The floor was completely destroyed, the kitchen was very small and dark. The current bedroom was very large and stretched over the entire side to the balcony door and also faced the rather noisy street.

We took out the kitchen wall to a small hallway and to the neighboring room and turned it into a large eat-in kitchen area. In the bedroom, a wall was pulled and the room was thus reduced in size. This created a separate living room with access from the eat-in kitchen area and with access to the balcony.

The floor had to be leveled and then we installed American walnut parquet in herringbone and oiled it. The parquet was laid level throughout the apartment, there are no more thresholds ect.

All the walls were spackled and glazed with a primer-paint mixture to keep the texture. The ceilings were also designed with it. A huge industrial window was installed in the rather small bathroom to get more daylight. The interior design style was intended to match the house's Wilhelminian style. A bit of industrial charm was added on top.
